Keeping fit over 50. My secret to staying strong.

I have to admit. I was never big, never had diabetes 2, and I always fit into a plane seat without an extended belt.

But turning 50, I noticed “love handles”, back pain and my knees were not my friend, mostly.

Today, I am fitter than most 50+. I am slimmer, more active and certainly stronger. And that without diet, being a gym rat or torturing myself with excruciating runs.

Here are my hacks for a longer, happier life:

We all know that your metabolic rate decreases with age. So, basically, you burn fewer calories when inactive. Like most of us, I am sitting about 6–8 hours per day at my desk working.

That equates to:

Low movement x decreased metabolic rate = gaining weight

I tend to overeat. As long as I can remember, I loved to eat a full and hearty breakfast. Then came lunch, which is not always the healthiest as it has to be quick. Dinner is the one I used to enjoy, enjoying cooking and eating, often having seconds and sometimes thirds. Ah, and not to forget the…
